About Me
Herschel Sarnoff taught for 35 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Twenty-four years ago, he started HMS Historical Games, which publishes United States History simulation games. He has been using computer-based instruction in his classroom since 1981 and has created many innovative methods for teaching standards-based lessons. He has taught United States History and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). He is a nationally recognized leader in the implementation of GIS in social studies classes. Many of the maps included in the presentations were made using ESRI® GIS software. He has given numerous workshops around the world and has presented at a variety of conferences at both the K-12 and university levels.
