Frank Gardner replied to Beth Still's discussion Biggest Obstacles to Online Education in the group Online Educators
"I agree with most of the posts--it is extremely important for the students to feel a part of the class and to feel as if they have a stake in the matters. What I found to be critical, though, while working on my graduate degree on line, was time…"

Frank Gardner replied to Kelly Hazzard's discussion Classroom Management Questions
"I would agree that these are excellent suggestions. Two aspects I would add, though, are consistency and fairness. These go hand in hand in that you do what is best for each child, not necessarily the same for all, and students need…"

"Any specifics on how they are being used would be greatly appreciated. I have considered their use, but not real sure on how and when they would be beneficial. My biggest concern is the control issue and how personal use plays out in the…"

Happening Now

I have completed The Northern Virginia Writing Project Summer Institute. This was an intense course over the summer to enhance and instill reading and writing concepts and methodologies in teachers across all curriculum areas. I will be teaching 8th grade Pre-Algebra this year and am very excited about new methods and ideas I have gained so far. What we have been doing is not working, so I am ready to try to take our Math program in an entirely new direction.
