Another question for my colleagues: Would a short video tutorial of how to use the iPods be useful to seventh graders? Or might it be better to rely on 'expert' students to teach one another? I've found that if I create a Word…

Jason, Thanks for the advice on adding info. to the cards. I've been debating with my co-teacher as to how explicit my directions should be in regards to such projects. We're finding that my lowest readers especially will tend to ignore…

Good catch on the spelling of "battery". I'll have to go back and reprint and re-laminate those pages now, but I'm glad you spotted it before my students did! Thanks! Yes, I am planning on paired activities, as my grant only…

Colleagues, I'm about to introduce the iPod Touches to my students, and am setting up the organization of the devices and the assorted accessories that go with them. I've purchased durable plastic bags in which to place the iPods and…

Jason, Just thought I'd let you know that I plan on recording audiobooks myself using Audacity software; were I to have iPods, I would simply sync them all to my iTunes library, and all students would have a copy. I've recorded myself…

I've just been told by my district that Moodle is a better choice than WordPress MU. I've been exploring the Moodle website, and find it much more difficult to navigate than WordPress. Is that simply because the district has yet to install…

I just received a quote from my local Apple rep., and one cart costs about $2,300. I'm writing a grant for these devices, and I'm including the cost of some Griffin clear cases for each iPod at a cost of about $10 a piece.

In November and December my seventh graders read the first volume of Jeff Smith's Bone, and it went over like gangbusters (pardon the antiquated expression). We treated it as a piece of fantasy literature, and therefore focused on the…

Agreed -- the Learning In Hand blog was a really helpful starting place. I know that I'll have to convince my technology department of a couple of things that this site has already anticipated: a) this isn't a case of 'technology for…
