"I find RTI easy to incorporate because it is mostly the same process we have been following. The only changes to our programs are the interventions themselves. We have streamlined our interventions and have a limited "menu" of services now…"

Looking for a job in Colorado, any ideas where to look? Thanks!

I'm looking for Social Studies in Colorado, and wonder if any of you can recommend any databases to use? I'm on schoolspring.com, but it does seem fairly limited and I have a sinking feeling there is a better source. Thanks for your help!

RTI - Effective or not?

Hello Friends!I am trying to gather data on educator's realistic impressions of RTI or MTSS (here in KS). Some of you may have experience in working with the many facets of RTI, and I am wondering how you feel about it? Is it a overly complicated system? How does your school work to incorporate it? How often do you feel yourself thinking about RTI, or is it something that is so in line with what you do already, that you don't even think about it? I'm curious to hear some opinions on it, and…See More

Sped Wikis

Well, as I end the second week of school before Labor Day, I have to say that my time working with SPED kids with my wiki has passed with some success. There are some things that are worth changing. First, to all educators, simplify, simplify, simplify, simplify. The less clicking kids have to do, the more they will use your site and find their way around it. Also, big fonts and tables work wonders. There are some wonderful wikis to help make editing easier, but they are hard to find. One is…See More

"I use a classroom wiki as a website. I'm a lab teacher and I teach about 500 kids, so I have to have everything organized and easy to locate. Here is my wiki. (It has not been updated for the upcoming school year, FYI)…"

"Hi DJ! I'm loving these suggestions! The best resource I've found for starting off the school year is the Adina's Deck detective DVD series. They are essentially a club of 8th graders that use technology to solve…"

"I use my class website, www.physicsmedic.org, as an area for static information: my schedule, class rules and policies, downloadable files, etc. I then use blogs as a fluid way of communicating with my students and as a lesson guide. You can check…"

"I think the biggest problem that I'm going to face is that my parents won't know what Twitter is. I teach at an at-risk school with a large low SES population. I think one way that I can sell it is by showing them how they can use it for…"

Hi DJ,

With your interest in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.

Hi DJ
My name’s David and I’m a history teacher in Queensland, Australia. I use a lot of podcasting and online tools with my classes and am always looking for new ideas to use.
I host a group on diigo (it’s similar to delicious and very popular with teachers) for history teachers to share links, ideas and resources. It’s at http://groups.diigo.com/groups/history-teachers.
Please come along and join and share any sources or resources you use with the rest of us. See you there.
Regards,
David Hilton

Hi DJ. I was wondering if you have students or educator contacts who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
