Making the connection between the past and present

Greetings from Pakistan! I am a second grade teacher and we are currently learning about how learning about previous generations helps us understand the relationship between past and present. I am looking for ways to creatively introduce aspects of this topic-please share if you have any ideas as I want to make this as interesting and fun as possible.
