Homework Slideshow Solution?

Next year we will have two projectors in our commons area which will play our daily announcements broadcast. With the announcements only being 5 minutes long I would like to have some form of informational slide-show on the screen the rest of the time reminding students of upcoming events, homework due, and other information. I am the department head and instructor in the Arts Audio/Visual cluster at Hutchison High School in Fairbanks Alaska. We have all kinds of interesting things going on at our school all the time and I am always looking for the next great thing to integrate to take our already advanced school to the next level.
