John Dewey's Import on Education Reform

John Dewey's Import on Education Reform

Hopeful discussions about civil society, public schools, and democratic citizenship.

Members: 99
Latest Activity: Jun 11

Discussions based on Dewey's own writings and on those about him and his dream.

Laura Gibbs has kindly provided a del.icio.us tag for available online texts of Dewey's works and for secondary sources of information about him.

Skip Zilla suggests that this group rely (at least at its formation) on six secondary titles to guide its discussions:
6) Campbell, James. (1995). Understanding John Dewey: Nature and Cooperative Intelligence. Peru, IL: Open Court Publishing Company.

Skip, you're right. Last discussion on the forum was on January '08. Too many abandoned classrooms lately? I think so.

Thanks for the link, Liz. Unfortunately, this group has been dormant for at least a year. I have not been an active member of Classroom2.0 ning for even longer.

I see no one has been here for awhile. I hope that email notices will ping some of you. :-)

Have you seen the brilliant video of Dewey on Progressive Education in the 1940s?

P.S. Will anyone be at AERA in San Diego? Want to have a meet-up?
