Recording Podcasts
Hi!
I have a teacher that would like to create podcasts where students interview family members of what it was like to live during the Cold War. In some cases, these family members live far away and wouldn't be able to to come to the school. She (and I) would like a way to record these interviews and insert them into the podcasts. Any ideas?

Yes, you can use Skype. Just do a Google search on recording Skype calls. One great method for shorter calls (up to 15 minutes for free) that I've seen is to use the Evoca service, where you bring Evoca in as on a conference call and then Evoca sends you a linkk to the mp3 of the call. http://www.evoca.com/skype/. I'm not sure what the cost of Skype calls is, but it's relatively inexpensive. I pay a monthly fee for unlimited US calls.
Audacity, the open source sound editing program, is great for any editing afterwards.

You can do podcasts using authorstream's power point presentation platform.

There are a couple of websites where you can use a cellphone or a land line phone to record a free podcast. They are www.gcast.com or www.gabcast.com. All you have to do is sign-up and you can record a free podcast. The recording times vary but they are both very easy to use. I hope this helps.
