I just finished reading the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.

The purpose of this discussion is to get your thoughts on how the ideas that Gladwell presents can possibly impact your teaching and your classroom.

I personally am interested to look at birthdays of the different groups and they are groups by reading ability in first grade. I'm considering grouping my students by birthday at the beginning of the year before I even determine reading levels.

I am not sure if our lives are molded by circumstances to the extent that Gladwell presents. I personally believe I was destined to become a teacher, and after a few other career attempts I finally landed on education.
