I stumbled upon another website that gave me an idea for my middle school English class - Newspaper Blackout Poems

Basically, the blog writer uses the text from newspaper articles - creating free-verse poetry by blacking-out all the words he doesn't wish to use. I'm not sure everything on the website is school appropriate, however the concept is great, easy, and fun for any teacher of creative writing or poetry, grades 6-12. It's great for modeling how poetry focuses on word-choice and minimalism.

These would also look cool and fascinating in the hallways and on bulletin boards!
