One of my middle school teachers is looking for an open source program similar to Wetpaint, which is now blocked in our district. I am not familiar with Wetpaint, so I am throwing this question to you all for help.

Hi! Wetpaint is a wiki platform, and there are many out there that are similar - 2 popular ones are http://wikispaces.com and http://pbwiki.com. However, if the issue is the fact that the filter is blocking wikis, then an option would be to install something like MediaWiki on your school's server. Here is a comparison chart of the different types of opensource programs you could install - http://www.wikimatrix.org/compare/DokuWiki+MediaWiki+UseMod+PmWiki

I hope this helps!
