Homework - Using Technology to help students with homework assignments

Hi,
I am looking for different ways that teachers have successfully used technology to help students do better with homework. In particular, how they can use technology to encourage students to 1- remember what homework they have and 2- complete and hand in the homework.

1) As to the first part, I send a text message home each night with what the homework is to each student via email.
