HELP! Need Teacher Training/Prof. Development for Inquiry-based and Project-based learning!

Thanks to all of you who sent me resources and suggestions. This summer I have collected over 200 web-based articles, videos, podcasts, book recommendations, project libraries, lesson ideas, tools/applications, blogs, forums, and sites related to IBL and PBL. Please feel free to visit:
http://delicious.com/ericcrabtree>>; to access this collection of resources. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Now, I am in search of resources that administrators use to train teachers to use PBL and IBL. Does your school use these pedagogies? If so, how were your teachers trained? What professional development options are most effective? Please send me any and all information and I will add that to the above resource library for posterity!

Many thanks!

Eric

Hello Eric - I am a classroom teacher who uses several authentic project-based assessments and also I have my students do written essays in support of our school's literacy initiative. At my school so many of us have been doing project-based assessments that our guidance supervisor has observed and stated that the students have become less and less well prepared for taking large objective tests. In PA the PSSA has become such an important report card for schools that we are being pressured to do whatever we can to get them to test better. My thought is that we need to be careful to maintain a balance. I do recommend that teachers develop rubrics for projects that that very closely resemble the rubrics that are used on any state tests. All project-based learning needs to include a written piece that has a well developed rubric. Good luck.

Your delicious link seems to be broken. I am interested in seeing your resources, when it is working. Thanks.
