In answer to your question about energy research and how I came to be doing this, my answer is that I've always been fascinated with renewable energy and when I had the opportunity to change careers to took it. In the process I went back to university to do a Masters degree in energy and development and was hooked on energy.
The actual work I do is very varied: I am a freelance consultant/researcher and take whatever work I can get in the energy field. Right now, I am re-designing the web site for an energy NGO I work with (the old website is www.egi-sa.org.za), then I am reporting on an energy conference later this week, and, so on...
