Earlier this year, President Obama signed into law the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, establishing September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. The call to service challenges Americans to make an ongoing commitment to civic engagement. One of the core elements highlighted in this historic initiative is supporting education and helping to close the achievement gap.
