I stumbled upon this Technology Integration Matrix and thought it would be beneficial to share.  It illustrates with video examples how teachers can use technology to enhance learning for K-12 students.  It highlights five learning environments: active, constructive, goal directed, authentic and collaborative and associates these five learning environments with five levels of technology integration: entry, adoption, adaption, infusion and transformation.  Together it creates a matrix of 25 cells and gives examples of each within the four main content areas of LA, Math, Science and Social Studies. There are lots of great ideas here for how to truly integrate technology into your classroom!  Enjoy!

Wes,

I have perused the matriz (no, not the movie - lol) and will use it as part of my tech instruction.  Thanks for the resource.

Hi Wesley,

There is another Technology Integration Matrix you might like to add to your repertoire too. :-) The Arizona Technology Integration Matrix was created modeling the Florida matrix and they have provided video examples for each cell in the matrix. http://www.azk12.org/tim/  Within each cell of the Matrix are two lessons plans with a short video of the lesson. Each lesson is designed to show the integration of technology in instruction and classrooms as well as the Arizona Educational Technology Standards. The AZ standards are based on NETS standards so I'm sure they will be very similar to other state standards. We featured these on one of our weekly Classroom 2.0 LIVE webinars this past September and it provides a great explanation of the matrix and the various resources. You can view the recording here: http://live.classroom20.com/1/post/2011/09/arizona-technology-integ... There are also some additional links in the Livebinder for the session related to technology integration.

Wow!  Thanks Peggy!  My district is utilizing the Florida matrix I posted as a way for for teachers to gain awareness of quality technology integration.  I will be sure to utilize this and share it as well!  Thanks for the resource!

Wes

The TIM associates five levels of technology integration (i.e., entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) with each of the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments. Together, the five levels of technology integration and the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments create a matrix of 25 cells.

We use this tool with our teachers for PD  - just yesterday in fact!  We grouped our MS/HS departments together, asked each teacher to think of one project or class routine (involving tech) to share with the larger group (recorded the basic details on a post-it), and then had the group determine where their example fell on the matrix; we then collected all the examples on a larger version of the matrix in the front of the room, to get a sense of where we are as a school.   The TIM provided a good structure for these conversations and sharing.

That's a really good idea for sharing this site.  My district is is brainstorming ideas on how to share this appropriately.  I'll be sure to keep what you posted in mind!  Thanks for the insight!

Here's a visual - we also asked each teacher to submit their example using a Google Form so we could assemble a mini-database of examples to share with each other.

That is a good resource Wes. It helps organize all of the ideas into one easy to look at spot! Nice!
