I am currently using RSS feeds from National Geographic for Kids and This Day In History, but am having trouble finding additional RSS feeds appropriate for 4th and 5th graders. Any suggestions?

I am also looking for ways that other teachers have used feeds in their classrooms.

I searched high and low and came up with these. We use them as "starters" for our classroom blog, A Really Different Place.
How do you use the feeds in your classroom? Any suggestions for a beginning user?

Just have to say that your classroom blog is excellent.
Thanks, the News Feeds can be used as a blog starter if you don't know what to blog about. The student reads the article, comments on it and links other kids to it.
I recently started a group in Diigo for the purpose of sharing "Kids Blogging". We just started blogging about the feeds in an attempt to practice "Connective Writing". Initially we started by commenting on the posts. I have a few tools that might help on our new site.
Isn't Brain Pop a subscription service?
Wade, Is this the blog you mentioned? I didn't see the RSS feed.
I found 2 feeds that support Reading. Fizzy Fuzzy Funny Poetry and Storynory. The Storynory feed also allows you to download an audio version.
I blogged about one way to try feeds in the classroom--I used pageflakes. Widgetbox.com is a neat resource for tools/widgets that have feeds, you can also create our own!!

Heres the link to the blog posting about pageflakes: http://yoursmarticles.blogspot.com/2009/05/using-pageflakes-as-bell...">http://yoursmarticles.blogspot.com/2009/05/using-pageflakes-as-bell...
Hi Mary,

I have not been able to access the blog post. I am interested in Pageflakes. It looks like the link is incomplete because it ends at bell...

Thank you in advance for your help.

Rob
