I am doing professional development workshops and would like to show participants good examples of classroom blogs done by the students throughout the year. Thank you so much for sharing yours or leading me on to ones that you have found to be good examples of Using Blogs in the Classroom.

I think our blog is a good sample, you can see it here. About 60 kids 4-6th blog--some more than others. My blog is on the front page, you can see what kids are writing about by going to Recent Posts. Let me know if you have any questions.

I noticed you posted twice, you can delete the duplicate.
You can check out mine if you like, I have only just introduced it to the kids so it will be a few weeks before I get some kid comments on it

Hello Judi,
I am a second grade teacher in Maine. Here is the link to my class blog, http://tiny.cc/mrsgleason My students have published all of the stories they have written along with newsletters the third trimestes. Each student is assigned to a topic for our class newsletter. We create a paper copy for a keepsake and they post it on their blog. We also use the blog for dicussions about other subjects and to display class projects. We have linked up with other classes to colaborate and comment on each othe's work.

Hi,

I've maintained a class blog with my grade 5 class for the past couple of years. Each student has their own category and is able to contribute to it and comment on others' work. This year, I've done my best to write a post outlining what the students were supposed to write in their agenda that day.

It's a starting point for everything the students do. I maintain my links I used for teaching (see the subject pages), and will write a post outlining what to do, where to go, when students visit our computer lab.

I've also clued in that adding as many visuals as possible really adds interest. Flickr, Creative Commons pictures of course, has proved to be invaluable for this.

Hi Judi!
I'm fairly new at doing a blog with students. I have been trying to work it in with all of the facets of my Grade 3 writing program. During different sessions we have used our blog for Modelled or Shared writing. Sometimes I have students work in pairs to write a post or ask for volunteers to write one alone. We look at our blog or others on our SMART Board when we do Shared Reading. I haven't actually used it for Guided Reading, but I guess I could. The kids are encouraged to read the blog on their own, of course. We also try to integrate the content into all the other curriculum areas as well.

Marie, You blog looks great and so appropriate for 3rd. It's nice for kids to see authentic writing...you need to make sure the 4th grade teacher starts a blog so the kids can continue. N.
Duck Diaries is one of my favorites http://duckdiaries.edublogs.org/
They followed it up with Trout Diaries
I think this is a great way to show teachers that a blog does not have to be a year-long labor intensive commitment.
