From May, 1968 Revolution to May, 2008 Protest Action : How french students use the internet to protest against current reform on education...

French students of high schools (Grade 10 to 12) are on strike for a few weeks, with violent repression by police... And Teachers will be also on strike very soon...

We can see that they efficiently use networks and blogs to spread infos, organize rallying to fight this proposed reform, to keep in touch between schools and to show violence of police against them...

For example, around 170 000 hits for this video... (very original action to fight against the suppressions of many options in arts and foreign languages (France is proud to teach 59 different languages in its secondary system)

Some examples of blogs of students and schools in fight:

Have you this kind of students actions in US ?

Vincent,
Unfortunately high school students in the U.S. cannot strike as French students can. In fact in certain states teachers are not permitted to strike either.
My students are learning about the events of May '68 right now and I'm trying to motivate them to think about what reforms they believe the school system should make and what they believe is worth fighting for. It's definitely an uphill battle.
Thank you for the links though, I can use these in my classes. If you have any other student protest blogs/sites to post it would be greatly appreciated.
