Should Students Create ePortfolios? Do Your Students Have Them?

At Pace University, we use the Mahara ePortfolio system (version 1.5). We've had the platform since 2010/2011 and it's really been picking up. We're not at the stage of some other universities that require it as a graduation requisite, however my Master's program at Pace (Media and Communication Arts) does require it for completion in the program.

What do you use? What have your successes/challenges been?

We also have a Mahara User Group (MUG) on Facebook, a global network of ePortfolio users if anyone would like to join. http://www.facebook.com/groups/184189741651182/

Thank you for the feedback!

Hi Michelle,

For Continuing Professional Development in Librarianship, I'm encouraged to keep an ePortfolio using 'Pebblepad'.

Over time, it is so easy to forget what you've done, how you did it, why you did it and what system you used, etc.  This 'evidence' is so vital for quickly putting a job application together and intelligently addressing a selection criteria that is nuanced with detail and specific.

It's difficult when you're studying, working and trying to have a life as well, to find the time and discipline to maintain an ePortfolio.

I think Blogger can also be used as an ePortfolio, presentations and documents can be uploaded using Slideshare or Google Docs.

Best.
