I'm exploring options of digtal story telling at present and woul like to use storybird. I've just signed up and had a little look around and it looks pretty self explanatory so far but one thing I may have missed is that if you want to write a story based on a theme rather than just being inspired by a particular artist how do you you do it?!

MY grade 3 class are exploring migration and are looking at a range of stories where children have had to move to a new home in a new country.  I'd like the children to use storybird to either write their own migration story or create a story based on a real event.

Forgive me if I have missed a search by theme option!

Any help from storybirders with more experience will be greatly appreciated!

I actually stumbled upon Storybird and have just recently used it with my fourth and fifth grade computer club.  What a great way to tell digital stories!  I quickly and easible set up a class in Storybird for my students to access.  The teacher account is great because I can add up to 75 students and make assignments for them to complete.  When they publish their assignments it becomes accessible to the students in the classroom.  The students are then able to read and share comments about their peers stories which provides great feedback. If you are looking for a digital story telling website, this is definitely a great place to start!

Check PicLits as well.  The students are able to pick their pictures but it also provides students word banks to help them write their stories.  Someone also mentioned Little Bird Tales.  Kerpoof and Myths and Legends are also worth checking out.
