- In my opinion the most courageous character in this novel is Eliza. I say Eliza because she had to be brave enough to watch her husband leave. She had to be strong enough to be a runaway slave for her childsake. But last but not least, she had to be wise and keep hope alive. Eliza is truely a hero in this novel.
I have to agree with LaBrea to because Eliza was brave to she jumped over the ice and watched her husband walk out of her life for awhile and that's pretty courageous.
LaBrea you argued a good point but, i'm going to have to disagree with you because , in  my opinion Tom was the most courageous character. Even though Eliza was courageous she just wasnt the most courageous character.
I like the answer that you have started with Brittany but you have not explained why Tom is the most corageous character as opposed to Eliza.
I cannot disagree with your point of Eliza being the most corageous.  But, I must ask how does her actions make her more corageous than Tom who clears the way for her to even be able to flee the plantation to save her son and herself?

I feel that Tom is the most courageous character in the novel because, even though he got sold a numerous amount of times he still was strong. Also he encouraged Emmiline to run away to freedom. Nevertheless, even though he was beat half way to death he was still a courgeous person.

I defintly agree with Brittany simply because,Tom was strong through out his entire life and he was a hard working slave and it took alot to bring him down.
how does this prove/ exhibit coruage?
I agree with Labrea, in my opinion the most courages character is Eliza because she escaped by herself and her son was the only one with her. Then she almost got killed by some dogs but she managed to get away. She had to be brave and strong to get through all this with nobody to help her.

Brittany you also have a good point but , I am still gone have to disagree.

In my opinion the most courageous character is tom. The simple fact because tom goes from slave owner to slave owner not running away or sneaking away from any of them. Brave through it all the entire time. He also had alot of heart he wasn"t going to beat another slave and that was a big sacrifice that got him killed so of course he has to be most courageous. When he first had the chance to run away with Eliza he said, "Mas'r always found me on the spot -he always will. I never have broke trust ,nor used my pass no ways contrary to  my word, and never will." Tom didn't start trouble there so he probably never will. That's why he is most courageous in my opinion.

I agree with Chan because , Tom was the most courageous character for the simple fact that he was brave during the enitire novel from the begining to the end.
