As you have come to the end of the novel, you have learned of Winter's journey. You have identifed with her ideals, her struggles, her strengths and her weaknesses as the main character. Considering that most would believe that we are what we are exposed to and also taking into account the concept that it is human nature to base desires and goals for our future on the environment in which we live in, Winter was not as receptive to the idea of allowing change to happen in her life. She rebelled against Souljah, befriended even the enemies or her father and sacrificed her family to "make it" on her own. Winter's outcome was one that in a general and more realistic setting would have been expected but seemed almost surreal for her considering the journey that she had been traveling.

Using literary devices such as analogies, allusion, symbolism, characterization, analysis of oxymorons, and be sure to include an aphorism, provide your own analysis of Winter and the decisions that she made as they related to the fate that she had to endure holistically. Consider all that she had experienced and all that she had lost, as well as how her situation could have possibly been different.

I think that Winter was sooo brought into the idea that everything revolves around her. She thought about every choice that she made and whether it was going to do something good for her. I really didn't like her character in this book, because first of all she was too fast, and you can say she was also conceited. I mean don't get me wrong, it's good to look after yourself, but don't get carried away, which is what Winter did throughout the whole novel. She did things that weren't necessary. Too much of a good thing is really never good. Having too much money, and I'm actually noticing myself sound ridiculous saying that because there's no such thing as too much money, right? Wrong! Having too much money can bring you plenty of problems, if you're not smart about it. That's exactly what happened to the Santiaga family. One minute they had everything and the next second, they had absolutely nothing.
Winter was actually into herself and the fact that she liked having everything was a problem because that led her to do all the negative things that she did only to get money. So money can be both good and bad ,but it all depends on the situation.
As a character Winter acted in a very rebellion way towards those people who tried to help her solve her problems. She was the type of person who would do anything to get what she wants it would'nt matter how far she had to go into actions.Winter also acted in a very seductive way to those people she tought would help her overcome her money issues.Winter was a person who always wanted the best things for herself and she was always wanted things done her way.She was also a very dishonest person she was full of lie's she lied about her mother's situation to everyone.Winters family never knew how to administrate there money and that led them and her to be in the positon that they were in which led her into all problems the only thing she knew how to do was to spend it all on the expensive clothes and shoes thats was Santiaga's problem because thats how she was raised .Winter would of had probably been a very distinctive person if she would of had been raised around positive peolpe and if she would of had never been in a wealthy position.
Winter Santiaga.... The girl who had it all, and lost it as quickly as she had found it. Winter was brought up into a world that her father would lead her to believe was all her's, until a drug deal gone wrong, and her family had to move and things went down-hill from there on out. She lost her family, friends, and all her wealthy, worldy posessions, only because she didn't want to feel equal or beneath the people who she had used in her past glory days. Her situation would have gone a little better if she had trusted the people who had her back and was there when she had everything. She back-stabbed those who had helped her from the beggining. She took advantage of them until she had used them all up for what they were worth, then when they turned on her, she wanted pity. Winter is a selfish, slef-centered little b-i- (somethin somethin) that needed a reality check since day one.
I agree with this statement because as a result of Santiaga's actions his family lost absolutely everything which caused their family to tear apart.Winter was a really fake person she only used those who tried to help her succeed and solve her money issues she only wanted the best for herself she was a very enviouse person and that lead her to be in the position that she was in.
i agree also
Aaaah I absolutely agree with you on this one! The only reason she would keep contact with her people in the past was because she knew she would need them in the future. She really did think that everybody had to like Winter Santiaga and she represented herself in a really skanky way.
Winter is a rebellious, selfish girl while her daddy is a drug dealer. Winter is trying to act like her father so, she can get what she wants. But, Winter was mad because her father moved the family to long island and it was her 16th birthday. Her weakness was her mother who got shot by her father enemies. Winter is a goldigger because went back with her old boyfriend that has money and she is stuck with a baby.
As I read the end of the book I have realized some of Winter's stregnths and weaknesses. Money is her strength and weakness. It is a strength because she knows how to take a little and , make alot more. The weakness is she will do anything for it.
She had it all, and lost it as quickly as she had found it. She could have been somebody in life but , she took on to her surrounding. Instead of her taking the money and doing something with it she decided to buy clothes.
you said that her money is her strength because she knows how to take a little, and make alot more, but thhen you siad that lost it as quickly as she found it. so how does she take a little money and make alot more then loose it quickly how is that.
I would have to agree with that. Her world always revolvede around fashion.
I think winter was feeling her self to much and the novel because she new she had it gud because who her daddy was and her mom was and she new nobody can tell her nonthing so that why she go out sleeping with every body because her dad and mom was never ther to teach her class and how to take care of her self. and she had all the money so she new she had it all but money not every thing money can bring you plenty of problems, if you're not smart about it so think your mom and dad need to be and her life more that why she act like that
