KidThing

Here is a new site for kids, that looks very interesting and a Web 2.0 platform. I'm wondering if anybody has been using it and what your thoughts might be.

Thanks

I checked out the site and download. This is very slick and pretty. It could also be pretty expensive to use. Even though the player download is free, you have to purchase almost all the materials to be used on it. I don't see it as a feasible classroom tool for most schools, but a parent with a little disposable income might like it.

Looks very promising but it hasn't progressed much since the initial splash of publicity. We used it around Read Across America Day but the demo activities weren't that rich and we had some problems with crashing (we're a PC school, systems all run XP.) I think it's a terrific concept but will wait for the full 'free' version to be released before looking too much further into it!

Hope this helps,

Thanks a lot I didn't realize until after I posted this, that Kidthing right now is strictly for PC's and we are an all Mac district. So I emailed the CEO, and he said that he is working on it. He then went on to state that he is from Milwaukee and grew up around where I work, so thought that was interesting. Don't ask me why I just typed that...;-)
