I teach several grade levels (mostly middle school aged) in a small school exclusively for students with learning disabilities. My largest class is 7 students. I'd be interested in having a collaboration with another classroom, perhaps with a similar description. Perhaps we could work together on a novel study, or a website creation, or some other project.

It is really interesting to hear about this. Will let know about any such future prospects.

I agree that there needs to be a collaboration between a school & community. The best form of collaboration to increase the educational success of exceptional learners is co-teaching. Co-teaching is the process of two or more professionals delivering substantive instruction to a diverse, or blended, group of students in a single physical space, although co-teaching has been described in many ways. We need to show students that communities & schools are supportive of each other, and we all want the best for the students. A community can be a great resource when completing projects and connect them to real-life situations. Working together will only enhance the concept of teamwork & thinking beyond the classroom. The process of co-teaching needs to begin before the start of the term, with principals helping to accommodate teams of teachers in scheduling. Co-teaching, both teachers need to be prepared to practice the skill for the long term.
