My son made this list last week:

(Clean room, watch TV, watch movie, play out[side], have fire[campfire], go to bed)

Notice he got most of his list accomplished. Well, actually, his room is NOT clean, but somewhat more picked up. Somewhat. He did do a great job on the watching tv and movie part and he really excelled at playing outside. We didn't have a campfire that night because it was too hot & windy, so he'll have to add that to his next list, and yes, he made it to bed (albeit a little late). Regardless, I was happy to see him beginning to develop that sense of getting a job done and then checking it off the list.

I've had my own list for this summer just floating around in my head. I'm afraid to write it down because it's HUGE and I'm not sure I can get it all done with August lurking just up ahead. Today, I'm making a commitment to write everything down, prioritize, eliminate, and come up with a final list of things I want to get done before the summer ends. (I'm also going to cheat a little and write down some of the things I've already completed just to have that feeling of accomplishment as I check them off the list!)

What about you? What are the top three things still on you summer to do list?

Hi, saw your tweet. I create a different list for school, home and my mum's stuff so I've got three running at the moment. I do what you do - write some I've already done to get that feeling of accomplishment :) My first three (have 2 weeks winter holidays at the moment) are chores: get the car registered, tidy the mess on my desk and visit the dentist. In between I'm on the Web learning about web2.

I like Grace's idea of having separate lists for school and home. I'm just afraid that both lists will each be overwhelming in its own right. [sigh] I have so much work and learning to do this summer, but I also need to do some things for me. Maybe that should be my third list. I like that. So, my three lists: (1) Things for School; (2) Things for Home; (3) Things for me!

The first two lists will be easy to write. What about that third?

So glad to meet you on classroom2.0/Twitter, Grace!
Thinking about you in Aus, having winter holidays, when I'm in Iowa (US) in the middle of summer break is just plain cool!
Now, I'm wondering about the time difference. I'll have to look that up...
Have a great morning/afternoon/evening/whatever it is down there!

Okay. So my son SEES his list plastered on the screen as I checked comments the other day and he says, "HEY!"

I tell him, sheepishly, "Thanks for sharing your list with me buddy! I loved it so much I wanted to share it with my friends, Okay?"

I think it worked. He just put on a BIG smile and walked away.

Mental note: ASK before I use my own kids' work as examples from now on. :-)
