An Open Introduction to Technology Integration in Education

Please allow me to first introduce myself. My name is Greg Limperis and I am a Technology Facilitator in the city of Lawrence, MA working with very inner city middle school students. As most of you teachers feel, the work day is busy and hard and resources are tight. Because of this, I have often felt that I do not get the appropriate or enough professional development to help me do my job well. With this in mind, a few years ago, I decided to turn to the best resource I had, my peers. Looking for ways to do this, I stumbled across this great site of Classroom 2.0 and the wonderful work here of Steve Hargadon.

As I started to gather all the great resources all of you were sharing with me, I naturally found that my own grow was happening thanks to you guys. In an effort to give back I created my own Professional Learning Network called Technology Integration in Education on Linkedin and eventually on my own website as well. Today, over 4300 professionals like yourself are members of my group on Linkedin and close to 3000 of you are members on my own site at http://www.technologyintegrationineducation.com .

This site at the URL above is a site where myself and educators like you share the latest news articles, websites, videos, audio, discussions, and great blogs on resources available for educators to help them better integrate technology in their classroom. Events of various webinars and such from all over pertaining to education and technology are posted daily. Collaborations with various companies and groups such as Adobe and EFQUEL help make this group stronger, but ultimately it is members like yourself that make us who we are, a great resource sharing our knowledge with each other.

I would love to open up an invitation to all of you to come to our site and think about being a contributor. All new membership is welcomed and collaboration is encouraged. If you work for a company and you have created a great product you would like to showcase to educators in a non threatening way, please do. The more all of us can bring all these common resources together into central locations, the easier it will be for that very busy dedicated educator to be able to better integrate technology into their daily like.

So please join us. We can be found @ http://www.technologyintegrationineducation.com and all new members are welcomed. I look forward to seeing you there and learning from you.
