About Me
I am a special education teacher and assistive technology specialist focusing on literacy, augmentative communication, alternative access, and technology integration.

First volunteering and then working at the Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center in 1997 inspired me to pursue a vocation in helping people with special needs. Presently, my work focuses on providing the best learning opportunities for learners from Pre-K through the end of school. My undergraduate degree was obtained at Gordon College in elementary education, special education, and history. My graduate degree is in assistive technology from Simmons College.

For the last three years I have developed and led The Discovery Center Inclusion Program, which focuses on balancing meaningful inclusion with specialized instruction for elementary level students. Additionally, for the last two summers, I have designed and led ALF: Adventures in Learning and Fun, which is an extended year program converted into a camp focused on literacy.

Recently, I have moved to Southern Florida, taking a teaching position at Nova Southeastern University. My role is the lead teacher of a small specialized program focused on helping young learners with augmentative communication need.

Samuel,
Congratulations on the new position in Florida--quite a bit warmer than MA, I am sure! I am just learning my way around Classroom 2.0 and it is nice to see some familiar faces! I am always impressed by your blog and your contributions on QIAT--I wish I had your energy! In addition to working with Montgomery County Public Schools, I am currently teaching a class at Hopkins on Web 2.0 tools in education and loving it! See you on QIAT or here real soon :)
Beth
