Always Learning

Becoming 21st Century Learners

Over the last semester I’ve worked with several groups of students on a variety of globally collaborative projects, and each time we complete a project, I ask for student feedback. Usually, I like to post these right after we finish, along with a description of the project, but somehow time has gotten away from me. So, [...]

The Seeds of a Good Project

One of my first tips for any teacher wishing to authentically embed technology into their classroom experience is always to start small. It’s easier to build on a simple, achievable idea, than it is to trim down an all-consuming tech monstrosity. So, with that in mind, one of our amazing grade three teachers, Rebecca (who is [...]

PD: How Frequent is Too Frequent?

Two weeks ago, while co-presenting a keynote with Jeff for the WIAOC, I made an off-hand statement about our after-school PD offerings that got me thinking. For the last 3 years at ISB, we have had open PD sessions 3 days a week, every week of the school year, some sessions more successful than others. We’ve [...]

Parent Technology Coffee Mornings: Year 2 Recap

It’s hard to believe we’ve already finished another year of thought-provoking discussions with elementary parents during our monthly Parent Technology Coffee Mornings! Tara, Jeff and I host these sessions in the Learning Hub on the first Wednesday of every month in order to build parental understanding of the ways that technology is changing society, and therefore, [...]

Moving a Community Forward

Last week Jeff and I presented one of the final keynotes, entitled Moving A Community Forward, for the 2009 Webheads in Action Online Convergence. Not only was it a blast doing the presentation with Jeff, but it turned out to be a great reflection on what we’ve accomplished at ISB this year and what some [...]

Hi Amy, Thank you so much for your kind words about my posts! I am so glad that the "why behind the what" is coming through in my blog. I agree wholeheartedly that the "why" is almost more important than the "what" - the tools are constantly chan...

Thanks, Kim. We may go with the paid version which would eliminate the ads. I had just heard it was so slooooow. But I'll keep investigating. Thanks so much.

Hey Kim, I just added a group that I think you might be interested in, “Educational Technologists.” http://www.classroom20.com/group/instructionaltechnologists I am hoping this group can grow and we will be able to support each other and collaborate so that we can better support our colleagues.

Kim :) How exciting, I feel like I know you already. When I was setting up my husband and my teaching blogs (resume, tech philosophy) and needed some guidelines so I did a Google search for "teacher blogs" and yours came up :) Your site is great and was very helpful in the design and layout of ours.
Considering the problems in Thailand at present I hope you are safe and well.
Regards,
Laura Wright

Hello Kim!

I've become a new member not too long ago and am very excited about this site. Needless to say as a new member I know no one. May I kindly invite you as a guest to my site (http://ntoond2.ning.com/). Any suggestions or comments you may have on how best to navigate the 2.0 world would be most appreicated.

Also, would you care to share any sayings which are particular to Bangkok on my site? For example, in the US one can say "Waste not, want not" or "Birds of a feather flock together", "A stitch in time saves nine"... and so on.

I'd be most greatful.
Thanks and hope to hear from you.

Hi Kim, just noticed you're living in KL. I am too! I guess you're probably with ISKL, Garden or one of the other international schools.

Looks like we share common interests. Nice! :)

I'm at the new campus that ISG opened 3 years ago - Camus des Nations. Before that, we were at a little offshoot of ISG's La Châtaigneraie - the Mies Campus. Before that, (starting in '95) I worked in Learning Support at the La Châtaigneraie campus. Before that, New York. More than you wanted to know, probably!

Hello. You left a nice comment on our Read it! Write it! blog re your Grade 3 Blog Pals. Our Year 4 classes wrote about themselves as part of their PYP Unit of Inquiry into "our Personal Stories"- some of those are at Where I come from . (Our Year 4s are probably half a year older than your Year 3s.) I didn't think this ought to go on the Grade 3 Pals blog, but I thought your students might be interested.
