Are you looking specifically for teacher use or student use? Are you looking for aps that have educational use? I use aps, but many of my students still have older cell phones. Here's a quick one that I have used for teachers and students: You…

If your laptop will allow it you can set your resolution to something non-widescreen such as 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 and see if that does you any good. My laptops have always been "smart" enough to downscale to fit the projector's…

Projectors and Laptops

The projector I have is a few years old. I'm thinking maybe 2006 or older. We just got new laptops and they don't seem to be very compatible. I've been told that the laptops are widescreened, but I don't really see a difference between it and the old one. When my computer is projecting, it changes my screen resolution so that it is blurry and big and gives me a headache, but looks great on the wall. When I change it to 1280X1024 so that I can see on my machine, it gives me a widescreen image on…See More

I've only used edublogs because in the past, my district has blocked all other blogging sites, even though they use blogger in PD courses to teach about blogging. They open it up for PD, but shut it down during the school day.

1. I've always been a computer user. I might even be considered one of Warwick's digital natives. I suppose that since I'm used to the technology and use it personally, it's pretty easy for me to use it professionally. If there…

I think the biggest problem that I'm going to face is that my parents won't know what Twitter is. I teach at an at-risk school with a large low SES population. I think one way that I can sell it is by showing them how they can use it for…

Vanessa Riley replied to Jeff Branzburg's discussion 'how does 1:1 change the way kids learn and the way teachers teach?'
Great post! Just putting a worksheet on the computer or transcribing a lecture to PowerPoint is not 1:1 education. I can't say that enough.

I'm starting my fourth year teaching at a 1:1 school, and I could give you an earful. Technology isn't magic. It won't take a mediocre teacher and make her wonderful. Instead, I've seen the opposite. If you want higher order…

I'm in a 1:1 classroom, and I don't use textbooks at all. If my students really want a paper copy, they can print it out, but for the most part, they like using the computer. It helps them organize their material and there are just too…

I'm a little late for the show, but one thing that I really like that my district is doing is opening up the technology inservice classes to the community. http://www.kleinisd.net/default.aspx?name=iss.itc.comcls Since my district is pushing a…

Vanessa here. I'm starting my fourth year teaching English at a 1:1 at-risk high school north of Houston. We have a small school, usually a little under 200 students who all have laptops that they can take home with them. I'm one course…

Hello Vanessa and welcome to classroom2.0 It will be interesting to see how your students adapt and use the 1:1 laptops and whether it engages them and motivates them(which I know it will). It is great to see your involvement in discussions already. We look forward to sharing with you.
