I have been in education for the past 36 years. The first fifteen years were in the classroom as a math teacher and the big issue was the use of calculators in the classroom to assist students in their learning of math concepts. The next sixteen years were as a building level administrator. During that time we instituted what I would call the modern network where connection to the internet became important to retrieve information and email became a standard means of communication. The last 5 years I have been the Director of Technology for my school district and have overseen the complete restructuring of our network to meet the needs of our students in the modern world of technology. I have a department of eight that work on the 2300 desktop and laptop computers, 16 HD video conferencing units, video and audio systems in 16 different facilities both indoors and outdoors. Technology continues to grow in my district to enhance the education of our students.
