Hi Sue!

Happy New Year! I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from Texas!

You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

I am not feeling well! I woke up this morning tired, after sleeping 9 hours. For lunch I had a very little bland food at the hotel & then we went to church @ 2PM
Suring the service I got to go outside because I felt like I was going to pass out! I threw up right then and there. The chinese people were hitting me on the back while they prayed for me! I was terribly embarrased!
When we got back to the hotel, I went right back to bed. It is now 7:30 Pm and I cannot keep down water nor sprite!
I have never been sick on a mission trip! I hope to be ok tomorrow or they will split my students among them. I think the fever broke after I threw up. The room is 78 degrees, the a/c is off and i have pants. t-shirt, sweater and I blanket on me!
The girls think it is a 24 hour bug! I have not thrown up since I am a child!
As you guessed, I had to cancel my trip to the mall with my students!
Miss u all
going back to bed.

How are my BOYS doing? hahahaa!
The city I am in now is ZhengZhou. I cannot seem to download pics here, my computer is extra slow! I will just have to wait untill I get home to show you your photos!
Miss u!
Did you read about the people eating your favorite animal here! You would cry to see as many grilled and baked TUR.... I do not want to see you cry!
I am now on my way to class. We wil be working in the computer lab because teachers are learning how to use powerpoint and how to creat games like jeopardy. they are so excited that they will be ready with new things for the school year. The teachers here discovered that if you just stand up and talk as a teaching method, the kids will not care nor pay attention. What a revelation, eh!!!! Is this a new concept???? eh???!!
Kisses

Today was my 1st day teaching. I had 18 students that speak english perfectly. I have 2 chinese teachers, many from the phillipines, 1 from peru, 1 from jamaica & 1 from scandinavia.
They all have the same problems we do:
Kids do not want to pay attention
can't manage teenagers
parents provide teachers with NO support
sound familiar?
now I am in the process of changing my lesson plans to include classroom mgt, and other things like that. I am trying to make it a "take and make session for them"

Our 1st day here was amazing! We all just got up and we are on the way to church. We ate at a great chinese restairant. I cannot wait to download the pics on the blog later today. We went to a dress making shop and I cannot even get into a XXL. I think I need a 10XL, no joke! A XXL is for someone like Anna.

We finished our day by visiting the school which is amazing!!!! I am ready to move here and work under these conditions! They give out stickers to classes that say: "most obidient class". Our parents would be all over us in the US.

Then we went to a massage place. We reserved 2 rooms. Each room had 5 beds. We all got out feet and body done at the same time. Thank goodness that each room had at least 1 translator for us. If it hurt, I yelled and they got the point! We were there for a massage for a total of 100 min. Most of the time they worked on the feet and legs! They told my frind all about my health problems! Not like I did not know about them! Whend done they bring in a bag with extremely hot small rocks and they roll them over your entire body. Wow! I want that alone done daily!

At the end of the massage they gave us a bowl with noodles topped with a fried egg, a small bowl with rice dumplings, watermelon, ice tea, hot tea and anything else we wanted to drink. You need to see the pictures! Guess how much it cost??? $7 dol.
Tell me that you are not ready to move here?
Sorry, need to go to breakfast & church!
Love u all

People who have bible studies in their own home are considered unregistered churches. Registered churches hold services at a church building. This church was packed inside & outside.
Children are not allowed into a service, they must attend a bible study with all the rest of the children. The church does not provide a bible study for adults as we do. The families that were standing outside the church is because many of them had kids!
How is my family?
