Profile Information

About Me: I am the superintendent of schools for USD 112 Central Plains School District. This is my 25th year in education and 21st year as either a principal or superintendent. I LOVE doing what I do! My professional therapy dog, River, comes to work with me every day and visits kids in our schools. He is especially helpful to kids that are hurting or lonely.
I am a super fan of the JostensRenaissance program that focuses on reward, recognition, respect, and reinforcement of academic achievement at least to the level that we do the same for athletic achievement.
I did my under grad and graduate work at Kansas State University where I played football and my doctoral work at University of Kansas (so you'll have to speak to me a little slower now. :-)
I married way above my head to a wonder woman named Kellie. I have four sons - Stephen - 23, Jake - 19, Tanner - 16, and Chris - 16 who was one of our students that we just adopted last November. In addition to River, we have four cats and two birds (4 cats and 2 birds too many).
My wife and I organize a huge community garden in the town of Bushton, KS that feeds anyone who wants to come get food. Gardening, landscaping, my kids' activities, and bike riding take up most of our time outside of school.
