Tech Chick's podcast response

For this assignment, I listened to the “tech chick’s tips” podcast, I chose episode 91 entitled “Too much to cover, too little time.”  This episode spanned around thirty minutes, and contained information about many valuable resources and tips for teachers.  The podcast is run by two women Anna, and Helen, and the way in which they format the podcast is that they each take turns introducing a different resource, or technology tool, and then go on to explain what it does, and how you…See More

What I liked about Diigo

I recently was introduced to the free program Diigo, and was surprised at how much I enjoyed using it.  I downloaded the special toolbar to my browser, and was impressed with how quickly and painlessly it worked in regards to saving websites you liked, or simply wanted to look at later.  It's also a great way to archive in one place, a variety of different web pages with ideas for my future classroom.  Ranging anywhere from: bulletin board decorating ideas, and classroom posters, to games and…See More

Shannon N Smith replied to Rebekah Donaldson's discussion Will technology take precedence over paper, pens, and writing? Should it?
"I think that in the future, technology will play a much greater part in the classroom than it does now, and who knows with the speed technology as well as the world is advancing there may come a day when it does replace these things…"

The Importance of "real books".

First, I want to explain what I mean by "real books".  I recently read an article titled "From Scroll to Screen", which described the author, Lev Grossman's look at the evolution of literature over time, from the simple scroll of the early ages, on to the codex, and now past paper itself into the new e-readers, and whether this is a good thing.  "On the one hand, the e-book is far more compact and portable than the codex, almost absurdly so. E-books are also searchable, and they’re green,…See More

Shannon N Smith replied to Dave Eveland's discussion How do you create a screenshot?
"If you own a pc and have Windows 7 there is a program called Snip tool, which you click on, and it will give you a gray screen, allowing you to choose which part of the screen you want.  Simply click then and it will make that part of the…"
