elementary school teacher, Forbes Road School District
About Me
I am currently finishing up my Masters in C&I from Gannon U. in Erie, PA (a great program by the way). During my coursework, I discovered the power of mapping curriculum and Heidi Hayes-Jacobs, et at. Our district is considering mapping, which is very exciting. I'm reading everything I can get my hands on about it. I've taught for about 13 years.

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
Do you mind passing my message along to students and your HS colleagues again?
Hi Sarah. I was wondering if you have educator contacts who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
Hi Sarah,
That makes sense now. I just thought I was missing a good resource - not that the standards aren't. I'm actually glad you put out this question to folks. It's been very interesting to look at some of the sites folks have posted.

Hi Sarah,
Am I just not looking in the right place? You mentioned the state website as a good resource, so I'm assuming you're talking about PDE. Do you find helpful teaching tools there? I'm sorry to sound so naive about it, but I've just never searched there, except to look at state standards and released testing items, etc.
With your interest in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
