- I have been in education 26 years. I taught 5th grade for 13 years and became a proponent of using living history to teach social studies. At that time, Tom Walker had a vision to create a place where students in Alabama could come to learn about the foundation of our country. I was hired to help create programs and standards based experiences. I have been here 12 years. I am on loan from the local school system.
