You might be interested in this video, showing a 10 year partnership with Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, and Cabrini Connections, a non profit serving 7th to 12th grade teens in Chicago. The reason this works is that the planning and organizing of the annual workshop in Chicago is done by the college and its graduate students, with advise from Cabrini Connections. When the planning is done at the college, they could be duplicating this type of interaction in many cities, with many programs, not just one.
