About Me
Hi there, I'm Melanie, a teacher in NSW, Australia. I'm currently working doing Professional Development on ICLTs for teachers around Australia and really love seeing educators getting excited about using them. I've been a reader of Steve's blog for a while now and have my own Ning networks for large PD projects in schools, giving them a space to flesh out ideas and share stories. I've also helped several teachers set up Ning networks for their classes to encourage communication and collaboration. It's all a work in progress, but it's great to see the changes happening.

I'm a firm believer in teaching skills for the future for our students of today. A child in Year 2 now is going to need to have literacy in areas we're only just naming.

Dear Melanie, Thank you for you comment and appreciation to our pictures in a slideshow. I'm trying my best to satisfy the need of the students. Our classrooms are really withyout materials. We have blackboard and dusty chalk. We can't afford dust free chalk or white boards and markers. They are costly. And students have woodern benches and desks (not so comfortable),The floor is sometimes dusty. We dn't have well decorated classrooms. We lack paper and crayons or more office materials for decoratin. And students really lack school supplies like pens/pencils, crayons, notebooks, and so on. very few of they bring such supplies regulary. I wish school could supply such basic things for the students. I'm trying my best to find some sponsors for the school supplies. one of my friend Tina sent some notebooks, paper, pencil, crayons and some sweets for the chlildren. With that help our students have started learning to draw, paint and do more. Hope your suggestions will also facilitate me to run the classes well.

Hi Melanie, If you give me a few weeks to get through reports, conferences, year 12 exams and other exams I am quite happy to work on elluminate or a virtual classroom with you and show you, or if it is easier to skype use that method. Once people are confident using the tools, the ideas for adaptation in the classrooms become evident.
