Mary J. Berger replied to Steve Hargadon's discussion 'Introductions'
Hi Mary, I am teaching a course this summer called science and technology. It seems to me that many higher institutions have been slow in their pedagogy to support this kind of instructional approach. I have this opportunity this summer to begin to…

Jennifer, I started out as a molecular biologist (many years older than you:>)); you will bring to the classroom not only your passion but also your work experience. Your experience in a working lab is what high school students do want to know…

About Me
I am a scientist who also is an educator. I have so happily combined the two professions as I beleive that they are not always practiced mutually. I have been in research/education for 35 years. I am pursuing my doctorate in educational leadership and have been especially focused on the incorporation and implementation processes of using the computer as one of the teaching and learning strategies in the 21st century.
my training has been as a molecular biologist who loves to teach others. I have not only earned my MS in my field but also my graduate degree in education MAEED. I look forward to sharing and listening/reading to my colleagues in the field.
(My website is in theprocess of being updated by me; I am a little slow about it).
I am teaching at DePaul Catholic High School and am an adjunct at FDU

Hi Mary,

Since you are particularly interested in the intersection of science education and technology, can I point you to a site that has been developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science that seeks to bring photo sharing to the science classroom www.fossweb.com/planetfoss.

Hi Mary,

With your interest in 21st Century Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
