About Me
I'm an English teacher who wants to know more about the world, different cultures and of course about teaching.

Chastushka Project

What do you think of Russian chastushkas in English?

Today I worked without rest,
Prepared for the English test.
If I get five or two,
Mother buys me a canoe.

Teachers cry and complain -
No salary again.
They repeat it and repeat –
Having only books to eat.

Don’t go to blackboard,
Don’t ask for help the Lord,
Any way you get two,
And your mother will be blue.

Record book is my friend,
I can’t it nobody lend.
If the homework isn’t done,
It won’t be seen by anyone.

At home and with friends I’m cool,
But deaf, blind and dumb at school.
To be active at lessons isn’t fun at all,
It’s better to play basketball.

The 6th graders at Chichester Central School in Chichester, New Hampshire (USA), would like to invite you to participate in our blog.  We have created a blog, which we hope will allow us to explore varying diets from around the world.  Our goal is to understand what other country’s diets consist of and what they consider to be healthy.  Here in New Hampshire, we eat a lot of seafood and lobsters as we are so close to the Atlantic Ocean.  We also grow and eat fresh corn, apples, strawberries, blueberries and even pumpkins.  If you are interested, please visit our blog at cgagnon.edublogs.org and respond to the “World Diets” page.  If you respond, it would be helpful if you could include which country or area of the world you are responding from.  If you are not interested, it would be much appreciated if you could pass this along to a friend or colleague that may be.

We here in New Hampshire look forward to your response.  Thanks

-Chris Gagnon – 6th grade teacher

Hi, Kate. Welcome to Classroom 2.0. My name is Ken Greene and I am the general music teacher and choir director at Ridgeway Middle School in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. I was wondering if you would be interested in participating in a classroom exchange using a web application called Voicethread. My students and I have been connecting with educators and students around the world through technology such as Classroom 2.0 and Voicethread in an effort to learn from each other, discover what we have in common, and strengthen appreciation and awareness of diverse world cultures. Voicethread is VERY easy to use and allows us to communicate with each other through text, voice, or video comments. In fact, my students recently exchanged poetry with students in Nepal. Perhaps we could have our students exchange poetry/chastushkas and comment on each others' work. Take a look at my page to get an idea of what we've been up to -http://www.classroom20.com/profile/KenGreene . You can also have a look at this vociethread greeting my students posted earlier this month - http://voicethread.com/#u406170.b674819.i3567443 . My school music web site is http://web.me.com/knrgreene/RMSMusicMediaNetwork/Welcome.html . Hope to hear from you! Best Regards. Ken Greene
