About Me
Astra Kids Academy was founded in 2011 by Mag. Isabella Baer de Cortes.

Her academic qualifications include an Opera and Music Education degree from the Italian State Conservatory of Music ‘G. Martucci’ of Salerno, Italy, as well as years of musical and linguistic study completed around the world from the New York City Academy of Dramatic Arts and Bostons New England Conservatory of Music to Mexico City, Bologna, Vienna, and Rome.

Mag. Isabella Baer de Cortes speaks five languages fluently and her interest in early childhood psychology has led her to a very successful teaching career having taught music and english to over 1,000 students from 2008 – 2011, as well as having more than 3,500 hours of teaching experience with children ages 6 months to 12 years old.

Ms. Baer de Cortes began her career in the Vatican City in Rome in 2002 with the chamber orchestra “Ars Nova”, with which she performed extensively in Central and Southern Italy, singing sacred, traditional, and operatic repertoire. She has been engaged by Miami Lyric Opera, Northwest Opera in Manchester, England, the National Theatre of Serbia, Teatro Piccolo di Ostia, Rome, and the Theatres of Lucca, Livorno and Pisa where she performed respectively; Violetta in Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’ , Musetta in Puccini’s ‘La Bohéme’, Adina in Donizetti’s ‘L’Elisir D’Amore’, and Tytania in Benjamin Britten’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

In 2006, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall Weill Hall in New York City as winner of the IBLA Foundation ¨Bellini¨ International Vocal Competition, and was also chosen to participate in Mexico City’s National Theatre “Bellas Artes” prestigious solo artist Recital Series.
