About Me
Helping children and adults acquire functional life skills has been my focus for more than 15 years. After earning a BS in speech-language pathology from California University of Pennsylvania, I received an MS in rehabilitation science and technology at the University of Pittsburgh. As an assistive technology specialist at organizations including UCP, ARC, and Center for Technology and Disability Studies at the University of Washington, I trained speech and occupational therapists as well as rehabilitation counselors on adapting technologies to foster independence. Notable is my three years at East Carolina University as the director of the assistive technology lab where I instructed undergraduate and graduate courses and developed an online certificate program in assistive technology. As the director of curriculum for assistive technologies at SmartEd Services, I am responsible for developing stimulating, hands-on content for students and professional development offerings for educators utilizing the TAP∙it™ Touch Accessible Platform for Interactive Technologies.
