"Not sure what is going on with that but when I set up our students I checked the option to force students to change passwords on their first logon. This worked without problems."

Changing Passwords in Google Apps

We are just about to deploy this to many of our students, but now I'm realizing that when you are logged in to our Google Apps, if you click on "google settings" to change a password, it re-directs you to the public google log on page.  I've seen several other posts about this issue.  Anyone know what's up?See More

Gregg Miller replied to Jan Mars's discussion Using Google Apps in the Classroom in the group Google Apps for Education
"One of the coolest uses I've seen is our math teacher using a form for kids to enter their homework answers. He has them do the problems on paper, but enter their answers in the form. That way, he knows what problems the kids had trouble with…"

Patricia Donaghy replied to Gregg Miller's discussion Using Google Forms for Science or Math Equations in the group Google Apps for Education
"Hi Gregg Don't know how you can add superscript or subscript to individual questions but you can add them to the description box just below the form heading - using the and tags. You will only see the results in the published form. eg x2 + x3…"

"We have a couple blogs where it makes sense, mostly, though for information like I think you're referring to, we use RSS news feeds. However, most of our listserv use is very specific, short messages for a select group (i.e. a note to the…"

Tony Thompson replied to Gregg Miller's discussion Listservs in Google Apps in the group Google Apps for Education
"Not sure if this will be helpful, but maybe consider replacing the listserv(s) with a blog(s). Rather than maintain a listserv, you direct parents - or any individual or group - to a blog that has a one-click subscription process. You could create a…"

"Ok, sorry for my density. Are each of these statements correct? In order for them to be in a group, they have to have a google account. I can do a bulk import of names and passwords to create a google account for them. I can then create a group in…"

"well, not all at once (you can't import group memberships...) But if you've got a spreadsheet all sorted, you can copy the address column for the group, paste it into the box (it adds the commas automagically when you hit enter) and add…"

Listservs in Google Apps

We're considering moving to Google Apps to replace our email server. The onething that's holding us back is our use of listservs. We createlistservs each year for most of our grade levels, our lower school homebases, and all of our athletic teams.
