Gary Miller replied to Kev's discussion 'Best way to get the internet into student hands?'
At this point, I think I would wait to see what the new Apple iSlate/iTablet looks like. It could be just what you are looking for. Only about a week to wait before we find out what it's capabilities will be.

Interesting that you should ask today. I came across this yesterday and marked it for further use. I think it answers your question. http://iphone.appstorm.net/how-to/synchronization/harmonize-iphone-ical-with-google-calendar/

Gary Miller replied to Allison Hart's discussion 'Tech Integration Coach/Facillitator - what is your job description?'
I spent 6 years as an "Instructional Technology Specialist". My job was varied and included anything that needed to be done with technology. I enjoyed it immensely! Teaching and helping teachers and students technology, doing the school…

Gary Miller replied to Brad Wilson's discussion 'My District is hiring a Tech. Director'
I agree, this is an important step. When my district did this 5 years ago, I also was full of hope. However, they hired a business person, not an educator. Things went quickly downhill from there. Instead of going forward into the 21st century, we…

Gary Miller replied to Lauriene Tschang's discussion 'Convince Administration that it is okay for teachers to use del.i.cious?'
You have to educate the administration. Often they are much harder to teach than the kids. Set up an account for them and teach them how to use it. Start small, but show them how it can make their job easier. Another strategy is to get parents…

Gary Miller replied to Tracy Matozzo's discussion 'Cell Phones and Syllabi'
One of my favorite quotes: There are two entities in the world that outlaw the use of cell phones, schools and the Taliban! Sad but true. To many pessimists, telling you how cell phones are a distraction, and could be used to cheat and . . . well…

Hi Gary. I was wondering if you and your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Gary,

With your work in Computer Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
