This is an interesting place to ask about my Flat Stanley projects!

I used Flat Stanley as a way to teach my undergrad elementary ed majors about using a Balanced Curriculum. I wanted to show how they could use Stanley as the topic for a collection of activities across multiple content areas and how they could easily combine objectives from content areas. The project itself was less about Flat Stanley than it was about using Stanley as the basis for their creative ideas.

The students had to create a series of 8 activities that covered a dozen objectives from the NC Standard Course of Study. These activities needed to cover at least 6 content areas. The students had to create their own Stanley and include at least 3 "action shots" of Stanley involved in their activities. I feel like this gave the students something to think about and it was a good way to include both Flat Stanley and the Balanced Curriculum in a single project.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you want any further information.

Thanks,

Brian Housand
