Add me to the list of people willing to give you a hand with continuing the project. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be in Denver with you to be part of that conversation, but I'm sure you won't lack for ideas without me.
Dr. Oates, Please know that I am not advocating that a Facebook account is the the equivalent of a NCTE (or the like) membership. However, it can be part of one's PLN and if an individual already has this in place it is a great jump off point.…
Two of the five classes in the academy are self-contained special ed classes and I am also a special education teacher (though I will be teaching general ed this year). My school, in fact the whole city, also has a blanket ban on the use of ipods,…
How about introducing "content communities" such as NCTE Ning (National Council of Teachers of English) or NCSS Ning (National Council of Social Studies) or the fairly new NMSA Ning (National Middle School Association)? I would be less…
I have come to the realization that, for me, grant writing is one of Dante's circles of hell. I'll probably have to do a few more to figure out precisely which ring.

you definitely need a projector. Well back to square 1 using an overhead projector and making it interactive. Did this in the old days. So much for 21st century technoogy.
The answer is in the article you linked to:
"But there’s a small wrinkle to the Million plan. New York has banned cellphone use in schools, so the Million phones can only be used after class. The policy, enforced stringently in 2006,…
