"David Rose is the Chief Education Officer at CAST (The Center for Applied Special Technology), a not-for-profit educational research and development organization that he helped to found in 1984. At CAST, he applies his background in cognitive neuroscience and classroom teaching to develop new technologies for teaching and learning. His research applies and extends the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a new field of educational design which originated at CAST and is now being supported and advanced by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and several states. Dr. Rose is currently the principal investigator of two national centers created to develop and implement the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) and of the AIM Consortium, a 15-state effort to improve academic outcomes for students with print disabilities. Dr. Rose also teaches at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he has been on the faculty for 25 years."
