My personal philosophy hinges on my personal belief that all children deserve the highest quality of education tailored to meet their individual needs and the needs of their communities as well as preparing them to advance in our global informational society. I am committed to leading the way in preparing teachers with the highest expectations for them and for the students they teach, after all children are our future.
My teacher education background began in secondary education but it is quite diverse. I am a former secondary science teacher with an academic and professional background in biology, chemistry, and adolescent literacy including content area literacy. It is not often that educators specialize in science and literacy, most would think the two fields have little in common, but actually they are directly related. In addition to my science and literacy foundational knowledge, I have a vast experience in curriculum design, curriculum, alignment, instructional strategies, assessment, classroom management, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) real-world instructional models.
