About Me
I started my own consulting company - OK, I had business cards printed:) - about a year ago. I am working with local school districts, the state of Indiana and other groups to bring about guided inquiry-based science and math in grades k-12.

I worked for 9 years with the NSF- and DOEnergy-sponsored QuarkNet program as a staff teacher (educational specialist) delivering professional development to high school physics teachers based on high energy particle physics across the country.

Prior to that I taught physics and earth science in an inner city urban high school in South Bend, IN for 6 years.

I have also worked for 3 years with "emotionally-troubled adolescents" in a residential treatment facility and in a group home as a house parent.

Prior to that I spent 5 years working full time in youth ministry. This experience undergirds my belief in creating a new kind of learning environment. Instead of forming a community of youth and adults to learn more about God and Jesus, I would like to look into forming a community of youth and adults whose focus is learning about the world around them.

Just last week (May, 2010), I was accepted into a PhD program in Leadership in the School of Education at Andrews University (Berrien Springs, MI) which is a learner-directed and online program. I am looking forward to joining this group to keep engaged in the latest in educational thought both online and globally.
