"I can recognize that spam can be a problem or inconvenience. Nevertheless I occasionally mention the software I developed for teachers. I will refrain for now. I mention it because I use it, not just sell it. I also think it can save taxpayer…"

Anthony Vestyck replied to Dale Ferrario's discussion Focused on the wrong achievement gap?
"Hey Dale, Just my opinion but what bugs me the most, related to computer skills, are parents that think their children are computer literate because they can get their email and play computer games. More sad is that many parents can not. Even more…"

"What a wonderful story. It made me smile but then made me sad when I realized the implications for education. I'm going to ask myself, "What am I really teaching them?" Hopefully the answer is not how to ask for carrots."

"Anthony, If anyone tries to define a "pledge" for five year old, I want to hear it. I can't think of a way to define it that doesn't assume the kids know something they probably don't. I think most classes announce it as…"

Anthony Vestyck replied to Anthony Vestyck's discussion Are You Teaching What You Think Your Teaching?
"For the first several years the pledge of allegiance must be only a conditioned reflex to to stand and join in. Merely a reaction to a situation rather than critical thinking. Pavlov's dog and John Watson's behaviorism. I'll bet there…"

Anne Pemberton replied to Anthony Vestyck's discussion Are You Teaching What You Think Your Teaching?

Are You Teaching What You Think Your Teaching?

Early in my teaching career I noticed something I thought important enough to share. Not that others have not figured this out, but maybe it can help a new teacher or two.Years before I decided to teach, I ventured into breaking horses to ride. The only horses I could afford were standard-bred horses that were not able to race anymore. About Me
I have been a teacher for about 18 years and developed EPEE Software for Teachers. The goal was to make the classroom more productive with a non-web based software to eliminate web based costs and issues; security, speed, downtime, passwords, etc. We met our goal. I was a taxpayer before I became a teacher and will be a taxpayer long after.
